Installation guide for Mosolut Hestra tiles

No special tools needed to start

You don’t need any special tools to begin – a rubber mallet, measuring tape and utility knife will do. For larger areas, a laser level can help maintain right angles, and a saw may be useful for more precise cuts.

The flooring is installed without adhesive – unlike PVC, polypropylene is a rigid material resistant to temperature changes, UV radiation and does not soften in the sun.

A clean subfloor is essential

If your existing surface is concrete, paving or tiles, clean it thoroughly and remove all debris.

• fill any holes or depressions to prevent voids under the tiles
• remove protruding glue residues, nails or uneven spots so tiles sit properly

Mosolut Hestra can tolerate minor unevenness, but a level surface will always give the best result.

Keep alignment and install like a puzzle

The key to a successful installation is maintaining straight lines and right angles. The tiles feature two types of connectors – male and female. If you align them in the same direction, installation will be much faster.

Simply click the tiles together one by one – like a puzzle. If needed, use a rubber mallet to gently tap them into place.

Recommendations:

• start along a wall and establish a precise right angle
• this prevents misalignment towards the end
• on small balconies (e.g. 2×2 m), you can install directly in rows
• on larger terraces, maintaining alignment is crucial for a straight result

Measure twice, cut once

In some cases, tiles need to be adjusted – for example around railings, posts or other fixed obstacles.

For cutting, use:

• utility knife
• hand saw or jigsaw

Using an angle grinder (disc cutter) is not recommended – heat may cause the plastic to burn or melt.
Cut-outs for posts or furniture legs can be made easily, ensuring a precise fit.
